 Fourpeaks Rental Terms |
"Very unhappy with the degree of hospitality we received." |
The great majority of guests are thrilled to be here and don't mind if I'm an oddball. Do they think a normal person would live here year round--with just mountains, trees and nature? |
 Safety First! |
"The process of making the reservation was problematic." |
Folks are used to booking accommodations in just a minute with a credit card on the phone. We're sorry about that. If we were renting roadside cabins (or motel rooms, etc.), we'd do the same. |
What do YOU value in a getaway vacation? |
"Your prices are upscale. Why is that?" |
Some folks experience the wilderness with just a sleeping bag and a tent--costs nothing. Others travel to exotic places--big bucks. Our backcountry camps cost in-between. About the same as a good hotel room in a mid-size town. |
Prices: Fourpeaks Backcountry Camps. |
"Less expensive then staying at a Hotel?" |
More about how expensive Fourpeaks is. Didn't understand that our listed rates are for single/double occupancy. We limit occupancy and charge for extra people and dogs. (You can't just squeeze in all the folks you want.) |
Planning a Vacation Get-Togther? |
"I called your establishment to inquire about about lodging for 4 couples . . ." |
Fourpeaks camps are designed for just one person, a couple or a family. For a personal nature retreat. Sometimes two couples will fit OK, but it's better if they rent another camp. |
Reduced Rate Plans for Returning Guests. |
"I did notice a 200 point deduction for 'complaining about the firewood.'" |
Some folks try to count their Fourpeaks Frequent Flyer points on their own. I don't do the math. I leave it up to my staff of experienced Adirondack guides and their (scientifically proven) algorithm. |
Adirondack Poetry at Fourpeaks. |
"The location is gorgeous . . . yet your poetry had a strong negative current throughout every page." |
I don't understand aggressively happy people. My Zen (a study of realtime cause and effect in minute detail) exposes the chanci-ness of experience. Feel happy about it? Sad? Not really. (Still, some guests do find me a bit grumpy.) |
   Seven Secluded Cabins. |
"One of your guests mentioned that The Cabin and New camp are quite close to the office, cars in and out, etc and that's not really for us." |
All 7 of our places are private and lots more secluded than anything else you're likely to find. Still, to help prospective visitors make the optimum choice, we've devised the Seclusion Index #0-10 to help them decide which place is right for them. |
 Thoreau House. |
"I didn't like the absolute whole wilderness like the no bathroom and how we would shower and bathe . . .
anything with electric and running water inside? " |
Stay at Thoreau House. Real Adirondacks Wilderness with not so much wilderness in it as all that. |

Safety First! |
"Is it dangerous to operate the wood stove . . ." |
If you have a lot of scary questions about personal safety in connection with heating with wood, suggest you tell us and we'll rent you a place where a wood fire is not necessary. |

There are hundreds more pages with Guest Notes, Email Exchanges, Guest Book entries, and stuff "From my mailbag." |
Look for CLICK & GO links at the top of most pages. Some of them are plain adulatory. All are Fourpeaks informative, and it's them saying it, not me. Enjoy.
