Hiking/Walking Trails & Beauty Spots.
Home to seven families during the last century, Fourpeaks valley is covered by developed roads and skid trails settlers used to access their fields, woodlots and pasture lands. Fourpeaks 4 mountains (Bassett, Wainwright, Rattlesnake and Ebenezer) are friendly 2,000-foot peaks which can provide hours and days of pleasant discovery for both the seasoned hiker and everyday walker--afoot, or on snowshoes or skis! Trails lead to summits and ridges with river, valley and mountain views, and to beauty spots worth visiting. For a private experience you don't have to drive to--away from the crowds on overused public trails.
Stonehouse Road.
Our pretty one-lane country road climbs all the way from the AuSable River (Route 9N) to the split rail fence at the Fourpeaks camp entrance, a rise of 450 feet in elevation in only 7/10 mile. A public highway since ancient times, it transport you, as if by magic, into an earlier unhurried time of home built cabins, woodfires, candlelight and shallow wells.(CLICK HERE for map.)
Activities Nearby. Swimming, fishing, biking, canoeing, boating, museums, nature centers, shopping, food, restaurants, beer & wine in the nearby High Peaks and the greater Lake Champlain Region. Outdoor activities, educational activities, sports, tourist attractions, rainy day things to do. (A personal selection.)

Bring Plastic Floats! For Fourpeaks swimming and floating fun we suggest that you bring along with you a toy tube/ring float, especially if you have kids. (There's a compressor with the proper fittings at Camp Barn to keep your tube properly inflated.) CLICK HERE for more about plastic floats.
Taylor Pond, A Wilderness Lake.
Fourpeaks private trails on 700 acres with 4 mountains are a first "must see" for walks with scenic views and Beauty Spots. A 1/4-mile AuSable River trail for swimming/floating/dog running. But if you're here for more than just a few days we reccommend a day trip to Taylor Pond, a New York State wilderness property with a 5-mile lake for canoeing, swimming, fishing, or just looking at.

Fourpeaks Guide to Resources. Not really the Yellow Pages. The vendors on this page don't pay to get listed. Our Guide to Resources is an outgrowth of names and numbers we've provided guests in the past to help them find useful services. Everything about where to find fishing guides and gear, horseback riding, bike/canoe/ski/car rentals and much more.
Visit Jay, New York. Like the other little towns along the East Branch of the AuSable, Jay has been through industrial developments in the 19th century--and come out on the other end as the place of natural beauty we know today. It's the Headquarters for Adirondack Life! Jay history and the old covered bridge (1858-1997 R.I.P.).

It's the world out there on the web. Much of the "writing" is uneven. A lot of it is just empty puff. Graphic presentations overuse gimmicks like frames, marquees, bouncing banners and blinking things. But there is a fund of useful information and beauty out there, too. Here are a few websites for the consideration of our Fourpeaks guests. The sample graphics and text will help you decide before you CLICK!

Whether you're an experienced webmaster or just a novice surfer, you may have feedback or suggestions to help us improve. We well remember the visitor who complained about the unpleasant glare from the HTML default royal blue links. That lead us to entirely revamp our background and link colors, making them softer, more eye pleasing. And the Florida expert who warned us about frustrating visitors with blind links. We followed his advice and now carefully identify links so visitors know before they "click" exactly where they're clicking to. Your comments or suggestions will be equally appreciated.
