Marion and Chris come down from Ridge.
They take a break from their photo studio in Brooklyn for a Ridge getaway with their Australian sheepdog Cyrus. They stop at Camp Barn on their way out and Cyrus romps in the snow with George, Fourpeaks's playful resident canine.

Date : 12/11/2002 Time : 8:29 PM Name : Marion Email : mt****@e****.net Location : Brooklyn, NY Comments : A month of real hard work in the city and here we are, rewarding ourselves with a few days at Four Peaks, where Martin was expecting us, friendly as usual, with jam and biscuit mix. Well, I did succeed with the biscuits, this time around, and they were welcome, since I didn’t bring enough bread. It snowed all Saturday and it was so beautiful. We hiked RattleSnake on Sunday and had a blast. Thanks again. [At this point Marion responds to a Guest Book entry left earlier by a website visitor who liked what she saw but complained about it being way overpriced--a common response from travelers seeking inexpensive "nickle a night" roadside cabin accommodations.] I have to reply to the entry guest book by Alison. Before criticizing a place, you’d better go, look and breathe! These cabins are special and remote, decorated with care and personality. If I may say: don’t confuse "depressed" and remote. These cabins are for outdoors lovers not crowd digger. Good luck around Lake Placid. Hot water? It takes 2 minutes to warm it up on a stove. Real complicated indeed. And regarding the website, what were you expecting? The dentist office site? Martin, don’t change your site, it is real cool! I love these old movie flashes. There is not a cabin like in Fourpeaks, nothing come close to them.

Your place looks wonderful! The rustic nature of your cabins is breathtaking. I would love to bring my family up for a week in January but your prices are extremely high. We found a cabin just like yours in Lake Placid for $50 per night. Yours are double that and the place we found is bigger, and has a great fireplace and hot water! Do you match these prices. Where do you get off with charging so much in such a depressed area. Your website is also too BUSY. Good Luck with getting people to come stay there at those prices! Allison S****** [Martin's surprise response to Allison.] Subject: Re: Your Fourpeaks Guestbook Entry Date: Tue, 03 Dec 2002 21:44:59 -0500 From: Your Adirondack Guide Martin@4peaks.com Organization: Fourpeaks--Adirondack Camps & Guest Homes To: j*******@yahoo.com@yahoo.com Allison-- Thanks for your Guest Book entry (below) and your remarks about our pricing. You may be right! I've been thinking about lowering my prices and getting some more visitors here instead of my places being vacant so much of the time. Please let me know where you're planning on staying. I'll check it out and do my best to get in line with their prices or lower. As for my webpage please remember that I did it all myself. It's home-made if you know what I mean. I just couldn't afford a professional webmeister like the places in Lake Placid do. I wish I could. Maybe after I lower my prices I'll get more visitors (like you) and I'll be able to to invest some of the money in advertising. Hoping to hear from you soon, Best wishes, Martin [Martin thanks Marion for standing up for Fourpeaks high prices.] Subject: Re: Guestbook Entry Date: Wed, 11 Dec 2002 22:30:34 -0500 From: Your Adirondack Guide Martin@4peaks.com Organization: Fourpeaks--Adirondack Camps & Guest Homes To: mt****@*********.net Marion-- Thanks for your Guest Book entry. Did you follow the link in my email and did you like the photos we took? And thanks for standing up for Fourpeaks by speaking back to that Alison. I tried to get Alison to tell me where she was staying for $50 a night, because I don't know of a place around here at that price. So I made a funny reply to her Guest Book entry, but she didn't bite (c'est a dire--she didn't take the bait). So it's no fun. By "depressed" I think she meant the Northcountry up here. The "Sticks" or the "Stix," [Styx?] they call it. It's a poor economy as compared to NYC and other cities in the state like Rochester, Albany, etc. Many young people leave to get jobs in the cities--like my son, for example. Best wishes, Martin
