10 Best Adirondack Visitor Information Pages.
CLICK HERE for your Adirondack Guide. My Fourpeaks Backcountry Cabins take some explaining. They're not the usual glossy Ammurican vacation fare. More European, like French getaways. That's where our Adirondack Cabin tradition came from, a camp d'ete.. Not wilderness exactly, but definitely off-the-grid and backcountry. Not "rustic." (I dislike the term. Good for cheap furniture and stoopid decorating schemes.) Two of these 10 Best Adirondack Visitor Information Pages are on the sidebar (at the left on all pages) which you should certainly utilize if you are thinking about an Adirondack Backcountry visit, but the remainder are extra or gateway pages I wrote with a special, fun, informative message for Fourpeaks web visitors and guests. Enjoy!

A Secluded Cabin. A Secluded Cabin. The Backcountry Cabins at Fourpeaks offer a high degree of seclusion. No people. No buildings nearby. Each in its own private setting on a 700-acre Adirondack Wilderness. Seclusion Index for comparing cabins.
Wilderness Camping . 4-Star Wilderness Camping. Experience 4-Star Wilderness Camping at one of our Fourpeaks Backcountry Cabins. Enjoy the quiet and beauty of untrammeled Adirondack Nature in considerable comfort with no equipment and no experience required.
Adirondack Vacation Value. Adirondack Vacation Value. Let's talk about price. Fourpeaks Backcountry Cabins offer a high degree of privacy, secluded settings with views, authentic Adirondack style furnishings, plus a wilderness experience. That has to cost more than a motel, a "cabin colony" cabin or anybody's ho-hum vacation "rental".
Fourpeaks never has many visitors. It's private. Like Camp David. (Photo of FDR who built Camp David. He called it 'Shangri-La.') (What they're like & What they're NOT LIKE!) They're like FDR's Camp David, the presidential getaway, a very big forest property for very few people to enjoy. They're like the famous 19thC.Adirondack Great Camps. Built with all natural materials and authentic Adirondack furnishings.
From ADIRONDACK LIFE, 2006 Collectors Issue. A PRIVATE FOREST IN JAY NY. Imagine a place that preserves the charm of the nineteenth-century back-country dwellings once scattered across the Adirondack landscape: rustic cabins with gas lighting and cooking ranges, privies, water pumps, fireplaces, woodstoves, and handmade furniture.
    Luxury camping--those two little
words have given a whole new meaning to getting away from it all. Luxury Camping. Leave home your tent, your sleeping bag, your camp stove and the rest of that hard-to-find camping gear. (Your Fourpeaks Luxury Camping Cabin has everything you'll need.) And don't bother with a trip plan, topos, field guides, and all the rest. (Our Adirondack hiking trails, canoeing routes and swimming spots, too, are all laid out for you with considerable thought.)
Backcountry Living at 'The Cabin.' Backcountry Living! The cabins at Fourpeaks are spread out on a 700-acre property, 2-1/2 miles end to end. To maintain a safe, orderly, and clean place to live, the good will and cooperation of our guests are essential. This webpage will provide you a working familiarity with backcountry life and methods for heating, lighting and water use. Living off-the-grid is fun and educational. Insure your personal safety and comfort by learning how it works.
Fourpeaks offers lots more than just lodgings. Fourpeaks Activities Home Page. Adirondack Activities. Fourpeaks hiking trails, rewarding views with no crowds. Summer Swimming at the nearby AuSable River. Visit Taylor Pond, a Wilderness Lake. Take Stonehouse Road for a walk back into history. Visit Jay, N.Y., the heart if the Adirondacks! Activities in the nearby High Peaks. Fourpeaks Yellow Pages, A Guide to Local Resources.
Leah discovers the Fourpeaks bathroom. About our Privies (Outhouses). Our Fourpeaks privies are private outdoor toilets in quiet natural surroundings with a long history of satisfied users. A privy is an outhouse--a dry toilet out-of-doors in which human waste is allowed to naturally decompose.
pitcher01.jpg The Oldfashion Pitcher Pump. (A backcountry innovation that puts the water where you want it.) Each of our Fourpeaks Backcountry Cabins is equipped with an old-fashion pitcher pump right at the kitchen sink. Guests pump water for washing from 7 gal. "mini-cisterns" located under the sink and refill them as needed. A startup supply of water for the pitcher pumps is in place for arriving guests. Water to refill is nearby. Guests are requested to refill the 7 gal. "mini-cisterns" before departure. Our terms of rental: "Leave it as you find it."
A fast-moving adventure story about strong women. An Adirondack Utopia. It was as if The Creator grabbed a hunk of mountain, pressed a divine thumb into that lump of clay, and hid it where only a select, blessed few could find it. The residents of the secluded 700-acre forest retreat affectionately called their mountain utopia, "No Place." Daughters of Utopia, a new novel that takes place in a Utopian nature retreat drawn from Fourpeaks Adirondack Backcountry Camps, and an insular Northcountry community very much like Jay NY.

We well remember the visitor who complained about the unpleasant glare from the HTML default royal blue links. That lead us to entirely revamp our background and link colors, making them softer, more eye pleasing. And the Florida expert who warned us about frustrating visitors with blind links. We followed his advice and now carefully identify links so visitors know before they "click" exactly where they're clicking to. Your comments or suggestions will be equally appreciated.
